"Taro "Maria" Sekiutsu" is student no. 8 of class 2-F. Maria is an illegal immigrant from an unknown country, she bought a birth certificate from a male student in Nozomu's class and is currently attending school in his place. Although she assumes the identity of a male student, almost everyone calls her Maria; Kafuka often addresses her as "Mataro". Due to her extreme poverty and optimistic attitude, most people feel encouraged to help protect her. She feels uncomfortable when wearing shoes or panties.

Dark skin and short hair, she is the shortest student in the class. Her uniform is also small for her size.
Personality[]
Optimisitic, nice and very inmature and innocent, she says and does many wild things from misunderstandings.
History[]
She arrives to Japan in Chapter 9 taking the place of the real Taro Sekiutsu, she gets treated nicely because everyone sees her as cute. In Chapter 34 she sees herself as a tsukkomi and slaps all the bokes. For most of the manga she delivers a line or joke in the last panel.
Trivia[]
- Sekiutsu Taro, the person Maria bought his certificate from, is derived from the phrase seki uttaro, meaning "I'll sell my name".
- Taro is a very common boy's name in Japan, making it immediately clear it isn't her name.
